What would you do if you were the curator of a museum? Create your own virtual MAS and take over the digital collections of the museum! With over 470 000 alternating museum pieces on display, your possibilities could be infinite. Use the 3D scanned items of the collection to make the museum your own, leave your trace and share it with other visitors!
#yourvirtualMAS gives the visitors the opportunity to choose their favorite artworks from a 3D-scanned catalog of
items through a multitouch tablet that is located in the boulevard of the MAS, outside of the exhibition rooms.
They can put them together as they wish, and even play with the rules of dimensions and gravity, in order to create their own museum space.
Then, they can take a snapshot of it to share their vision of the MAS on social media.
To finish, the visitors can visit the museum they have just created thanks to a virtual reality headset. A projection on a screen allows all visitors to see the creations.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″]
The MAS is a very well-known museum in Antwerp, it tells the story of the city and its inhabitants. But with over 400,000 artworks in the collections (on display or in the storage) and 5,000 m² of exhibition space, it is almost impossible for the visitors to make the museum their own.
The point was to make the digital collections of the museum attractive and to create an activity in the boulevard of the museum that would make people want to go inside the exhibition rooms to discover the collections on display.
